What's New Lamprey treatment scheduled for Sturgeon River Cheboygan Daily Tribune (7/2) U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service personnel will apply lampricides to sections of the Sturgeon River in Otsego and Cheboygan counties to kill sea lamprey larvae burrowed in the stream bottom. Life on Lake Erie Photo Contest Lake Erie Commission (6/30) Amateur photographers and camera buffs age 18 and older are encouraged to enter this year's "Life on Lake Erie" photo contest. The "Life on Lake Erie" photo contest is one of many events planned for Ohio's Coastweeks 2008, which runs September 12-21. Michigan: Water protection bills near passage Detroit Free Press (6/26) A measure authorizing Michigan's participation in the Great Lakes Compact with seven other states and two Canadian provinces was approved Wednesday afternoon in the state Senate and sent to Gov. Granholm. Michigan Energy Fair Great Lakes Renewable Energy Association (6/24) This three-day event, June 27-29, will unite people from throughout Michigan and the Great Lakes region to learn about energy issues and sustainable living. Attendees will have the opportunity to attend educational workshops; meet vendors offering valuable goods, services, and information; eat local food; and hear great live music.
