Canadian Feds cut cheque for Great Lakes clean-up The St. Catharines Standard (10/24) The federal government gave a $326,000 financial boost for seven ‘areas of concern’ in Niagara as part of Environment Canada’s Great Lakes Sustainability Fund. The money will go towards habitat improvement, cleaner water, and other issues.
Toxic mess labelled low risk to water intake London Free Press (10/24) A recently released report finds the toxic stew at Port Stanley harbour poses only a low risk to a Lake Erie water intake on which 100,000 area residents rely for drinking water. The Elgin Area water supply system manager is calling for further investigation.
