COMMENTARY: Niagara County can't tolerate more toxic wastes The Buffalo News (11/12) The Niagara County Legislature passed a resolution on Oct. 6 stating that ". . . the economic development policy of Niagara County considers the siting of additional hazardous waste landfill capacity as contrary and damaging to its goals and objectives."

Oswego County company agrees to pay $220,000 to settle PCB contamination charges The Syracuse Post-Standard (10/27) Novelis Corp. in Oswego County has agreed to pay $220,000 to help repair damage to the environment caused by the release of hydraulic fluids containing polychlorinated biphenyl, commonly known as PCB, over a period of decades dating back to the 1960s.
